Battalion Chief John Muhr
Battalion Chief John Muhr heads Cathedral City Fire Department's Operations division combining training and emergency services. This division manages fire suppression, emergency medical care, hazardous materials management, and specialized response teams. It also includes specialized training in tactics & strategy, command & leadership, apparatus operation, and special equipment operations.
John Muhr, Cathedral City’s new Battalion Chief in charge of Operations. Born and raised in Westminster California, he decided to become a Firefighter early on. While still in High School he became a Fire Explorer with Buena Park Fire Department, and then attended Santa Ana College where he eventually graduated from the Fire Academy. He continued attending Santa Ana College and finished his Associates degree. In 1991 he went to work for Hemet Fire Department where he spent the next 18 years. At Hemet Fire Department he was responsible for department training, as well as supervising six fire companies. He is excited to be part of the Cathedral City Fire Department, and looks forward to a wonderful career at CCFD.
