On March 11, the Cathedral City City Council approved an ordinance to adopt the 2019 Building and Fire Codes and local ammendments. The local ammendments include repeal of the requirement for properties to pass an inspection of smoke alarms before closing escrow.
Due to the risk of spreading COVID-19, the FD will not be conducting inspections of smoke alarms effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020. The Fire Chief's memorandum can be accessed here.
Your Cathedral City Firefighters appreciate your keeping home safety a priority, including having operable hardwired and/or 10 year tamperproof smoke alarms in all homes. Please refer to our smoke alarm brochure for proper placement, and other valuable information.
